Games I Have Played And Enjoyed (or Not)

Here's my personal list of games I played (PC GAMES) - and if possible my oppinion of them... Also the relevant links.

Arcade Games

The first games I noticed was Pac-man and Space Invaders.. Especially the last one I played on my dad's old pc (1986-ish), and I think I reached 10.000 points once!

Then followed a cargame (on my ibm-wondermachine) I can't remember the exact name of - but I still remember the music if that counts for anything.. Anyway these are great game joys:

Tetris (try Monty Python's version in 'Holy Grail'), card games (Solitaire, Napoleon, etc) , Fuji Golf, Mine Sweeper, BubbleShooter, Froggy, Vector Tower, the-one-with-the-sledge-going-over-bumpy-rocks, etc, etc... I enjoy all these casual FUN games also!

American McGee's Alice

Action/Adventure, 3d (realtime), Rogue Entertainment 2000, PC

A very nice action/adventure game! Play it! It's not too difficult, but will keep you occupied for some time. Alice in Wonderland turned into a nightmare - surreal graphics!

Amerzone

Adventure, 3d (prerender), Microids/Dreamcatcher Interactive 1999, PC

A beautiful adventure experience - although not much of a game.. I loved the fantastic sounds and images, which were very enticing. Imagine that with great game play.

Art of Magic - Magic & Mayhem

Role-Playing, Massively Multiplayer Online Game, 3d (realtime), Virgin Interactive 2001, PC

Ok gameplay, ok graphics - the story is allright too.. An overall ok game, some places the difficulty rating was too jumpy resulting in being stuck with far too difficult or easy opponents.

Black & White

Strategy, 3d (realtime), Lionhead Studios 2001, PC

Everybody said it was fantastic, but.... I found just a wee bit tedious. The worlds were really nice, the worshipping, etc, but the actual gameplay was just too cumbersome - repetetive is the word! I was pulling my hair out in big lumps in the end!

BlackOut

Adventure, puppet 3d (prerender), Deadline Games 1997, PC

A very ambitous story-based adventure game. All done with puppets and actual scenography! Classic point-n-click adventure gameplay.

Deadline Games - developer's site

Ceremony of Innocence

Interactive Entertainment , 2d, RealWorld, 1997, PC

Not really a game, rather an interactive version of three novels consisting of actual letters and postcards.

Cross Town - Giften

Adventure, 2d, Deadline Games, 1998, PC

A game in the style of a grahic novel a bit like Dave McKean. Very interesting story about polution, but the gameplay is like an advanced 'forward'-button - point-n-click...not dynamic.

Diablo II

Role Playing, Massively Multiplayer Online Game, 3d (realtime), Blizzard, 1999, PC

A nice (is that the word for it?) RPG with quests that are nicely balanced & interesting, the graphics are ok, the worlds are GREAT. Only one annoying thing: you're forced to do a whole quest at the time, since the monsters you kill, respawn each time you exit the game. So you have to play 1 hour minimum each time!!

Drakan

Action/Adventure, 3d (realtime), Psygnosis 1999, PC

An adventure game in the same genre as Tomb Raider. The really interesting thing about it is you get to fly a dragon! The riddles are ok, gameplay ok, graphics and worlds are quite nice.

Eve (Realworld)

Adventure/Sound Toy, 2d, Realworld 1996, PC

Peter Gabriel's venture into the interactive cdrom-world... It's a game about picking up elements to activate music pieces - and about lovers. Beautyful, surreal 2d universes - with thoughtful words from both scientists and artists. Gameplay very simple, riddles sometimes very cumbersome.

This changed my life though - 'aah, games can be something else than wars, sports and big-boobed women'

Valazza - Eve - a really nice fan site. Contains secrets, cheats, etc

Grim Fandango

Adventure, 3d (prerender), LucasArts 1998, PC

Funny, fantastic adventure game, FABOULOUS graphics, great story about death...Usual adventure point'n'click trouble - if the riddles are too difficult you're stuck. But generally a genre-defining and innovative game!

Adventure/Puzzle, 3d (prerender), Cyan 1993, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2005, PC

Well.. So much have been said about this series of games. They were groundbreaking and redefined what a game could be. Beautiful worlds and interesting storylines - very inspiring still although the interaction and gameplay leaves much to ask and seem old fashioned today.
